This tour takes you across a variety of landscapes, from the flat coastal roads of Negombo to the thrilling climbs of the Knuckles Mountain Range. Each day brings something new, cycle through lush tea plantations, explore ancient UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa, and spot amazing wildlife in national parks such as Udawalawe and Yala. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, culture, and nature for cycling enthusiasts!

Day 1 - Negombo

Arrive and transfer to Negombo. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. We suggest exploring the street restaurants in Negombo for dinner.

Leave early and you will start your cycling adventure from Negombo to Narammala – 53 Kilometres. This is mainly a flat terrain and will take you past coconut estates and paddy fields. From Narammala, you will be transported by vehicle.
We will start the day early with a visit to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya Rock Fortress, is known as Lion Rock, a private fortress and place of immense stature with a remarkably impressive design. Check-out from hotel and transfer to Giritale by vehicle. We will do our ride from Giritale to Polonnaruwa using scenic and back roads. The Polonnaruwa site will also be done on bicycles. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century.

Today, you will embark on a 45 km cycling journey from Polonnaruwa to Pallegama on a fairly flat terrain. Pallegama is situated close to the Wasgamuwa National Park, so be on the lookout for some exotic bird species on the way. From here, you will be transferred by vehicle to the next desination. Your overnight stop is in Riverston in the Knuckles Mountain Range and after a few days spent in the dry zone, you will appreciate the cooler climate in this picturesque hill country stop.

This morning, we will do a hike to Riverston and Pitawala Pathana. Riverston is one of the peaks which rises over 1000 m above sea level in Knuckles Mountain range. This is a famous wind-gap and and once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of the majestic landscape of Knuckles range.

This morning, your ride begins in Riverston. This will be quite a challenging day as you will begin a steep descent through the picturesque hillside and a few forest patches. A few more ascents and descents await you before you reach the village of Rattota where the track will be much easier. Following a brief break, you will pedal on to Matale and if a longer stretch is needed, you could ride all the way to Kandy, Once in Kandy, you will check in to the hotel. This evening, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth and thereafter do a night ride to savour street food in Kandy.
After breakfast, we will transfer to the railway station and board the train after breakfast this morning. This short local train experience will be an highlight on this trip. Disembark at Hatton Station and cycle to Maskeliya. The ride will take you through windy tar and gravel roads amidst lush tea plantations. Check-in at your guesthouse and relax.
Your next few days will be combined with cycling and Sri Lankan Wildlife highlights. Start your day riding from Maskeliya to Balangoda Viewpoint off Bogawantalawa. This ride will take you through beautiful stretches of Sri Lanka alongside tea plantations and pine forests. Thereafter, continue by vehicle to Udawalawe and do an afternoon safari of the Udawaalae National Park. Udawalawe National Park is populated with large herds of Elephants and this is the only National Park in Sri Lanka that would guarantee elephant sightings anytime of the year.

After an early breakfast, we will ride a little over 55 Kilometres on rather flat terrain to Tissamaharama. Once again arid zone scenery will come in the scenery keeping you thoroughly captivated throughout the ride. You will also ride alongside Lunugamwehera National Park which is an important habitat for water birds as well as elephants. Once in Tissamaharama, we will proceed on an afternoon safari of the Yala National Park. Yala is commonly known and regarded as one the best place in the world to see leopards. It is also home to many other species of birds, reptiles and other mammals including the elusive sloth bear.

This morning ride from Tissamaharama to Hambantota and thereafter proceed by vehicle to Weligama/Mirissa. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the beach stay.
Leave early on a whale watching tour off the coast of mirissa. Whale watching season in Mirissa is from November to April. The boats depart at 0630 hrs and the tour will last 3 to 4 hours depending on the sightings. On this boat safari, you wil have the opportunity to spot blue whales, bryde whale, sperm whales and spinner dolphins.

Today will be your last ride from Mirissa to Unwatuna or Galle along the coastal belt. Late afternoon we will do a wlaking tour of Galle. Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site originally built by the Portuguese and further developed by the Dutch & British. It is protected by 12 bastions and connecting ramparts covering over 4km2. Several hours can be spent exploring the maze of streets and nosing around the various cafes and art & Craft shops with your guide.

Transfer to airport.
